29 July 2026 | The selection of the Centre for Offshore Renewable Energy (CEFORE), Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) to participate in the Climate Finance Innovation Lab (CFIL) marks an important step towards accelerating the development of offshore renewable energy technologies in Malaysia through greater access to financing, investment, and the commercialisation of green innovations.
This participation places CEFORE among a select group of high-potential projects that will receive guidance in developing sustainable financing models to accelerate the deployment of clean energy technologies, in line with Malaysia’s energy transition agenda and net-zero carbon emissions target.
The CFIL is led by Bank Pembangunan Malaysia Berhad (BPMB) with the support of Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) to strengthen innovative climate finance solutions through collaboration among financial institutions, government agencies, investors, and industry players.
This achievement further reinforces CEFORE UMT’s role as a leading research centre in renewable energy while supporting the growth of Malaysia’s low-carbon economy and offshore renewable energy industry.
